Rev. Fred Maldonado,  Pastor Emeritus

​Pastor Emeritus Fred Maldonado is a retired pastor, but he continues to serve the Lord and our church as a wise advisor and trusted member of the leadership team. He was born in 1935 in Maxwell, New Mexico. He spent his early years on a working ranch, and was a “real cowboy”, according to his wife, Joanne.  He was saved at Mesilla Park Baptist Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  Pastor Maldonado was ordained in 1986 by the Wagon Mound Southern Baptist Church (New Mexico), and has served churches in our area, including Westshores Baptist Church in Salton Sea, and most recently as Interim Pastor of the First Southern Baptist Church of Palm Springs.  In April 2018, Rev. Fred Maldonado was honored for his years of service in ministry by being designated as our Pastor Emeritus. We are blessed to avail of his experience.

Rev. Steve Groll, Children's Pastor

Rev. Steve Groll is an ordained Southern Baptist minister and graduate of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.  He has worked in California churches for forty years, and has a special calling and love of working with children.  Pastor Steve has served as camp pastor, guest speaker at children retreats, led children revivals, and is now our Children's Pastor

Pastor Steve is also an award-winning author who has written and develop stories, object lessons, craft projects, chalk talks and puppet scripts that are edgy, offbeat, and captivating.  His goal now, is to share some of his best teaching tools with others who want to teach the positive values and morals that we so desperately need in this world today.  Steve and his wife, Paulette, live in Cathedral City, California.

Dr. Kenneth Mills, Senior Pastor

Dr. Mills is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina. He was ordained to Gospel Ministry in 1973 and Commissioned as a Southern Baptist missionary to the Philippines in 1982 where he served as a Church Planter on Mindanao, and then as Senior Pastor of the International Baptist Church of Manila.  In 2002 he founded Alliance for Philippine Missions, and then in 2004 he opened Manila Counseling Center and Safe Place Ministries for at-risk children.

Pastor Mills attended Gardner-Webb University, UNC-Charlotte, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and UNC-Chapel Hill.  In addition to English with a southern drawl, Dr. Mills speaks Tagalog and Visayan Cebuano.  Pastor Mills preaches each Sunday at 11:00 am, and then leads Bible Study each Wednesday at 5:30 pm.  He is available for pastoral counseling by appointment by texting 760.774.1818.

Ruby Berdan, Music Leader

​Our Music Leader hails from Butuan City on Mindanao, and Manila, The Philippines, where she was an Industrial Engineering and Music graduate of The University Of the Philippines, Diliman.  Among her many talents is a love for music. Because she loves the Lord Jesus, she uses her skills to reach out to others for Him.  She can be found playing the piano in worship, or “taking minutes” during our church business conference. Her contribution in service to our church is indispensable.
